Even the Kennedy Family is excited about environmentally conscious interior design!
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his family recently renovated their home in New York. Located in Westchester, NY the homes is a billboard for environmentally conscious interior design. The home was taken over by black mold after a summer flood. Then, interior designer Robin Wilson was asked to renovate the home using non-toxic materials, energy efficient appliances and fixtures. The home includes a geothermal and photovoltaic system along with domestic hot water. Mr. Kennedy and his Wife are in the process of applying for LEED for Homes Gold Certification.
Do we really need to certify that the home is smart and well designed as well as better for the environment? I believe all designers should be making spaces this way on all their work, regardless of attaining LEED certification or not. Right?
